Vishuddha Seeks New Drummer
Change is inevitable. After almost two years of pounding the skins for us Terry Shrum will no longer be playing with Vishuddha.
Though we will certainly miss having Terry with us in the band, personal issues and conflicting musical differences were starting to take their toll on all of us. Our last show with Terry was the 23rd. Annual Jerry Garcia Birthday Bash on August 7-9, 2008.
We would like to thank Terry for all of his input, playing, and expertise during his tenure with the band. We wish Terry well and lots of luck with his future musical endeavors.
We are currently seeking a replacement drummer, either temporarily or permanently. If you or anyone you know is a drummer who may be interested in playing with us please let us know. We have several shows coming up where we could use a good drummer. Here are the only requirements we have for those who are interested:
You must be:
- Dedicated.
- Hard-working.
- Talented.
- Able to devote at least 6-10 hours per week on practice.
- Able to play multiple styles of music (rock, jazz, blues, soul, psychedelic/jam, hip hop, and funk are our main styles).
- Able to maintain a good, steady meter (solid, fluid fills are a big plus too).
- Able to maintain professional attitude even under poor conditions (tough audience, nasty club owners, etc.).
- A fun, easy-going, down-to-earth individual who loves to make original music and has fun doing it.
If this sounds like you or a person that you know please feel free to contact us immediately. We have several shows lined-up and more in the works including some larger festivals next year.
Until we find our new drummer (and we know you are out there somewhere) Vishuddha will be performing as a two-piece band in a more stripped-down, semi-acoustic mode. While this is not ideal for us (our music is best served hot and electrified), we believe in our music enough to carry on with or without somebody pounding the skins.
Thanks to all of our fans for sticking by us through this transitional phase. We look forward to seeing you all at Chilli Peppers next month. And thanks to Terry Shrum for giving us two years of blood, sweat, and tears. Good luck brother!
